After being accused of sexual harassment in recent months, singer Lizzo, real name Melissa Jefferson, took to her social networks to show her discontent regarding the media “attack” to which she has been subjected in recent months.
I’m getting tired of being dragged along by everyone in my life and on the internet. “All I want is to make music and make people happy, and help make the world a little better than I found it.”
The “Truth Hurts” singer also mentioned feeling like she doesn’t “belong in the world” due to the number of lies she has faced: I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it. “I am constantly faced with lies being told about me because of my influence and opinions, and I am increasingly the butt of jokes because of my appearance.”
Given this, the American ended her message by mentioning that they did not respect her name, so she was resigning, without specifically mentioning whether this goodbye was related to her musical career or her activity on social networks.
During the second half of 2023, Lizzo and her producer were accused by the artist’s former dancers, Arianna David, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodríguez, of sexual harassment in addition to fostering a toxic work environment.
Given this, the singer herself flatly denied the accusations. Likewise, she turned to her social networks to “clean up” her image and call these types of demands “unbelievable.”
My work ethic, my morals and my respect have been questioned. “My character has been criticized”
In addition to the above, the singer also issued an “apology” mentioning that her intention was never to make anyone uncomfortable in addition to revealing that she always provides the necessary value to each member of her team.
After the first accusations, Lizzo was again accused of the same charges by more people who worked with the singer on the reality show “Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls.”
