Deshawn Coggins, a 36-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting his mother in the head last night inside their Queens home.

Natalie Coggins, 61, was found dead on the floor inside her home at 160-46 121st Ave. near Long St., about a block from Baisley Pond Park, in the Jamaica neighborhood, around 9:30 a.m. pm on Good Friday, he indicated Daily News.

Police immediately focused on her son, who witnesses said fled the home shortly before his mother’s body was discovered. He was later arrested in Brooklyn with the gun used in the shooting, police said.

The son was charged with murder and weapons possession after questioning. His arraignment in Queens Criminal Court was pending Saturday.

The motive for the killing was not immediately revealed. All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Earlier that month, a mother died and her two children were injured after a gunman opened fire on the family inside an apartment in the Bronx (NYC).

In January, a man was arrested a day after his mother’s funeral on suspicion of strangling her at her home in Staten Island (NYC). Also that month, a man and a woman were found dead with gunshot wounds to the head in an apartment in Brooklyn (NYC) in an apparent murder-suicide. Days before, a Hispanic woman killed her daughters and her husband and then took her own life inside her home in Union (NJ) after receiving an eviction order, authorities reported.
