Prospect Luisangel Acuña is known for being the brother of Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr., but now it seems he could make his way to the Major Leagues and all thanks to his performance since the first day of the season in Triple A.
During his team’s match against Rochester at the NBT Stadium, the youngest of the Acuña family, who was making his Triple A debut, hit an impressive home run that helped in the team’s victory.
In the fourth inning, another of the jewel in the Queens farm, Drew Gilbert (Mets number 3), took the ball towards the stands so that the Venezuelan, the number two prospect of the Mets, took his turn at bat and finished hitting the home run that initially gave his team a 7-1 lead.
The hit registered an exit velocity of 104.1 mph and this also stands out in the future of Acuña, who hit just two homers in 37 games with Binghamton last year.
Luisangel Acuña also stood out by getting on base in the second inning and ended up being one of the most important on the team.
The Caribbean, who came from the Texas Rangers in the trade that took Max Scherzer to the 2023 World Series champions, is one of the main Mets players in training and already made his debut with the big team in Spring Training.
It is expected that this season he will be able to make his official debut in the Major Leagues, hoping that he can ratify his position as the 64th highest-rated prospect according to MLB.
