The case that has captured the public’s attention in recent months took an unexpected turn on March 18. Dani Alves, former Brazilian soccer player, was found guilty of raping a young woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022. However, he avoided a sentence of more than four years in prison by paying bail of more than one million dollars.
The mystery about who would have financed the bail has recently been resolved thanks to an exclusive revelation on the Spanish program Fiesta. According to Marisa Blázquez, a collaborator of the program, it was a company and not an individual person that made the controversial payment. It is an internationally renowned Brazilian magazine, known for its outstanding reports on important figures.
“The magazine, known in Brazil, does great reports on important people in Brazil, but also internationally and would have done it in exchange for a report that would already be being done,” said Marisa Blázquez in Fiesta.
The motivation behind this payment would be the production of an exclusive report on the life of Dani Alves, which would include an interview in documentary video format. In addition, it was revealed that Alves requested to include Joana Sanz, his still wife in terms of legal papers, in the report. According to Blázquez, the payment made would have been an advance as part of the agreement for the interview.
Payment delays and transfer complications were attributed to the processes required to complete international transactions. This revelation puts an end to speculation about who would have financed Alves’ bail, now focusing attention on the development of the judicial process facing the former soccer player and on the details of the report that the Brazilian magazine plans to carry out.
