The coach of Club América, André Jardine, assured this Monday that the games between the teams of the Mexican league (Liga MX) and Major League Soccer (MLS) in Concacaf have raised the level of both soccer tournaments.

“The Champions League is a nice path in which these games allow us to advance. The comparison of the Mexican league and the MLS is beneficial because it makes both grow and become stronger, these games increase the competition and allow us to see what we are for,” said the Brazilian.

In Jardine’s opinion, the growth that the MLS has had in recent years is due to the friction and experience that the teams have had in the Concacaf games.

“It is difficult to rate the level of the MLS. But since the clashes in the Champions League, there has been significant progress in hiring, more solid, intense teams, with an important tactical structure; “Both the MLS and the Mexican league are on the right path to becoming stronger,” the leader highlighted.

Club América hopes to face the New England Revolution of the MLS this Tuesday in the first leg at Gillette Stadium, located in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in what will be the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup.

Regarding that match, Jardine denied that in this key the team he leads is a favorite for being the leader of its league, while the Revolution is last in the MLS.

“We respect all rivals and New England is a strong team that has many offensive virtues, it has dynamic forwards and midfielders who know how to distribute the game and do damage,” he said.

The coach added that “in these games a mistake costs you dearly, and that is why they require different attention than those in a regular tournament.”

“When we face matches like these, kill or be killed, we find our maximum level of concentration,” he said.

The second leg of the quarterfinals against the New England Revolution is scheduled for April 9 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
