An Easter Sunday celebration in Nashville, Tennessee, was marred by violence after a gunman opened fire in a restaurant, killing one person and wounding four others, according to local authorities.
According to reports from Metro Nashville Police, the shooting occurred at the Roasted restaurant, located in the Salemtown section of the city, on Sunday shortly before 3:00 p.m.
In addition to the fatal victim, four people suffered gunshot wounds or scratches, and were rushed to local hospitals. Despite the severity of the victims’ injuries, they are all expected to survive.
Reports noted that the restaurant was packed with customers, including children, enjoying the Easter Sunday holiday. Posts on social media show people dancing to a DJ, drinking and taking photos with an employee dressed as the Easter Bunny before the tragic scene.
In the middle of the celebration, a man decided to take out a gun in the middle of the restaurant and started shooting at the customers. Metro Nashville Police have released a photo of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
According to witnesses to the chaotic scene, customers ran out of the restaurant, screaming and crying. A woman in a nearby park reported that she heard about eight gunshots before seeing people fleeing the premises.
Meanwhile, Metro Nashville Police have stated that detectives are working to determine the cause of the shooting. At the moment, the alleged shooter fled the restaurant in a Mercedes GLS 450 and remains at large.
