The legendary Roy Keane, historical figure of Manchester United, launched several forceful darts towards the Norwegian Erling Haaland, especially after his performance in the recent Premier League match, where Manchester City drew goalless against Arsenal.
Keane pointed out on Sky Sports that the striker had few opportunities to score and was very limited against Arsenal, urging him to improve both in ball handling and team play.
Despite praising Haaland’s scoring instinct and effectiveness, mentioning that in that regard “he is one of the best in the world”, Keane was very critical of the player’s “general game”.
“For a player of his caliber, his performance was very poor, not only today, I think he must improve to reach the level of a League Two player (fourth category of English professional football),” Keane commented after the match.
“This is how I see it: Erling Haaland’s overall game needs to improve and I’m sure he will in the coming years… He needs to improve in all aspects of his game,” Keane said of the 23-year-old forward.
Although Haaland has scored 18 goals in the Premier League this season, he only touched the ball 23 times in the entire match against Arsenal, without managing a shot on goal or creating any dangerous plays.
It is important to remember that Roy Keane, known for his aggressive playing style and strong temperament, was the player who intentionally injured Alf-Inge Haaland, father of Erling Haaland who was then playing for City, in 2001.
