A person was arrested by authorities in Georgia after driving his vehicle into the main door of the FBI office in Atlanta. As they explained, the individual wanted to follow a car that was authorized to enter the place when the emerging barrier was deployed.

The Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the city of Atlanta was involved in an alert situation after a driver tried to enter the federal property located in Chamblee without authorization.

“I was not associated with this facility.”

“Today, a person crashed into the main gate of the FBI in Atlanta shortly after noon,” the office said in a statement, adding: “He was not associated with this facility.”

The authorities explained that the unauthorized car, a compact copper color, was following another motorist, who was authorized to enter the FBI facilities in Atlanta. The suspect accelerated with the intention of entering, but it was not possible, since the security people immediately activated the barriers.

The vehicle crashed into this barrier; The entire front part of the car was hit, causing it to no longer be able to continue the journey into the federal building.

Officers detained the suspect

As a result of his action, the driver, whose identity was not revealed by authorities, was immediately placed under arrest. The FBI is investigating what charges will be imposed against the person.

“Several of our special agents who were passing by detained the man after he exited his vehicle,” FBI Atlanta said. “We are currently investigating both state and federal charges.”

No injuries were reported during the accident. Likewise, FBI officials specified that they do not know what the driver’s intentions were, wanting to enter the offices without authorization.

The driver, who is under arrest, was taken to a local hospital to treat injuries sustained during the collision.

Bomb technicians inspected the vehicle

FBI agents and bomb technicians took precautions and searched the vehicle as it is part of standard operating procedure.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is no further information about the accident at this time. Nor about the alleged person that the suspect was following and who did have authorization to enter the federal building.
