The NFL is in mourning. This Monday, April 1, it was announced that former Indianapolis Colts cornerback and two-time Pro Bowl nominee Vontae Davis was found dead by police at his home in the state of Florida.
According to preliminary information from Davie Police, third party involvement in Davis’ death is not suspected. Despite this, the investigation is still ongoing to clarify the details of this unfortunate event that has left the local community shocked.
The shocking news comes after a standout NFL career by Vontae Davis, who was selected by the Dolphins in the 2009 draft and later played for the Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills. With two Pro Bowl nominations under his belt, Davis retired from professional football in 2018, leaving behind a notable sports legacy.
The mansion where Davis’ body was found belongs to Adaline Davis, his grandmother, according to property records. This luxury residence, with five bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, and an area of almost 6,500 square feet, has been the scene of this tragic event that has shaken the community and left unanswered questions.
Through social networks, the NFL world expressed itself after the death of the former Colts player. Precisely the organization that plays at Lucas Oil Stadium sent a message in which they highlighted Davis and mourned his death.
“We are devastated to hear about the death of Vontae Davis. He was an excellent player during his six seasons with the Colts, but he was a better teammate who always carried a smile and positive energy. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends,” the Colts wrote.
The NFL also sent condolences and said it “is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Vontae Davis. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones.”
This is not the first incident that has linked Vontae Davis’ name to headlines. Last year, the former player was arrested on charges of driving under the influence after a crash on the Florida Turnpike. Photos of the accident showed Davis apparently asleep on the side of the highway, next to his wrecked vehicle.
The news of Vontae Davis’ death has left his fans and followers in shock, remembering his outstanding career in professional football and mourning the tragic loss of a sporting talent.
