The Venezuelan YouTuber Oscar Alejandro broke down this Monday when talking about his situation in Venezuela, where he was detained on Sunday for an alleged case related to terrorism. In a video that he published on his YouTube channel, he explained that he was taken handcuffed from the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, when he was preparing to travel to the Canaima National Park, to the city of Caracas, where he was granted freedom under arrest 32 hours later. presentation regime in case the authorities require it for the corresponding investigations.
Initially, the agents who were present at the process assured him that they did not know the reasons for which he would be prosecuted until hours later a high-ranking officer informed him that he already had knowledge of what was happening and showed him a fragment of a video. which he published seven months ago. In it, the content creator pointed to a tower and made a comment that, he stated in his statements, were taken out of context.
“I made a theoretically terrorist comment”
“Basically the video is called This is Caracas at night, We went to tour the entire capital, with another YouTuber colleague, but in one part, I believe, a comment was taken out of context just when we arrived in the Chacaíto area. Behind the Chacaíto shopping center you can see the Credicard tower, there I make a comment that, if at this moment I have to apologize for having said what, apologies,” he stated.
Oscar Alejandro, who is also a journalist, added: “I made a theoretically terrorist comment; that, theoretically, altered public order or tried to alter public order in Venezuela.”
The Venezuelan YouTuber also assured that he would never dare attack his country and that the comment he made was not made with treachery or desire to disturb the peace.
Oscar Alejandro: “I would be incapable of attacking my country”
“If it were done with that intention and had caused those consequences (of an attack on the Credicard Tower), it would alter not only the peace, but the life of my family and even myself, who has bank accounts in my country. “I would be incapable of attacking my country, against my people, against my fellow citizens and the people I love so much, so I am very sorry for my expression because they based that on that to issue the arrest warrant,” he stated.
According to his story, the official who showed him the fragment of the video, and who told him he was the head of the Terrorism Division of the Venezuelan Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps, told him that he did not consider that the content creator’s words had been taken as terrorism.
He added that he received good treatment from the officers.
He indicated that during the hearing at the Palace of Justice in Caracas, the judge ruled that there were no compelling facts to consider him a terrorist and that the accusation lacked legal basis to continue being detained. “I have to be pending before the authorities for any other call, but basically the judge ruled my freedom. After that I signed a paper and left the Caracas Palace of Justice.”
Finally, he stated that those were “the worst 32 hours of his life.”
