The frequent exchange of words that has been seen between Canelo Álvarez and Óscar de la Hoya had a new chapter this Tuesday when the boxer wanted to defend himself against the promoter’s comments, in which he claimed that he was the Mexican’s father.

Álvarez did not hold anything back and just a day later responded in an interview for the Los Angeles Times, stating that the comments that De la Hoya always has are pure “stupidities.”

“Óscar is based on nothing more than talking stupid things and that’s why people pay a lot of attention to him, but he really does nothing but talk stupid things in his company. That is the only thing he does, it is the only thing he knows how to do,” Tapatío commented during the conversation.

He later recalled that the comments De La Hoya made did not have the courage to make them in front of him, reiterating again the stupidity of the former world champion.

“Imagine, what if he doesn’t have the courage to say it right there at the press conference. And now imagine that his fighter, Jaime Munguía, is in that fight and saying and promoting in this way a conference by his fighter. “I think it’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen in my life and that’s what Oscar is,” he added.

Canelo Álvarez’s response came after De La Hoya this Monday said that “he knows who his dad is” and later attacked him on Twitter.

“Yesterday’s press conference was as boring as Canelo’s fights, De La Hoya said on his social networks, after the Mexican champion’s entourage “forbid” the Golden Boy from doing several things during the conference such as attending the event, drinking photographs, or testify in interviews.

Although Canelo Álvarez and Óscar de la Hoya initially worked together, problems between the pair began in 2020 when Jaime Munguía’s rival sued in federal court in Los Angeles against the promoter Golden Boy Promotions, alleging that they breached the contract and interfered intentionally, as well as eight other charges.

However, shortly after, both parties sealed an agreement for Canelo to leave the promotion and it will be next May 4, the date of the fight against Munguía, in which he will face a Golden Boy rival for the first time.
