Krispy Kreme and Oreo join forces to present the “Total Solar Eclipse Donut,” which will be available from Friday, April 5 to Monday, April 8, the day on which the trending astronomical phenomenon will occur in the United States.
The donut giant presents a product with which “you won’t need protective glasses for this “eclipse””, but which promises that your taste buds will live an “out of this world experience”.
It’s a way to help Americans celebrate Monday’s total solar eclipse with the “Total Solar Eclipse” donuts, which will be available for a limited time.
Dave Skena, global brand director for Krispy Kreme, says, “Eclipses are rare and so is our out-of-this-world total solar eclipse donut. Even if you can’t be in the way of the whole, you can get in the way of these delicacies, which you will eat in their entirety. Stop by and get some for yourself and some to share so you can show off your scientific side and your great taste at the same time.”
The flagship product is made with an original donut dipped in dark chocolate glaze, adorned with silver sprinkles and adorned with a buttercream made with Oreo Pieces and topped with a whole Oreo cookie in the center.
Customers who wish to enjoy Krispy Kreme’s Total Solar Eclipse Donut will be able to do so between Friday, April 5 and Monday, April 8 in-store, for takeout and delivery when purchased with the Krispy app and website. Kreme, while supplies last, indicates a statement.
It can be purchased individually or as a special dozen that includes six Total Solar Eclipse donuts and six Original Glazed donuts.
A new flavor to eclipse palates
This is Krispy Kreme’s second creation to celebrate an eclipse with its fans, this time the total solar eclipse, since in 2017, this same phenomenon occurred and it launched a completely new donut to celebrate a total solar eclipse.
Krispy Kreme has been characterized by creative and delicious ideas for events that have to do with space such as:
- 1969 served fresh glazed original donuts at the launch viewing site for NASA’s Apollo 11 mission to the moon.
- 2021, created the Mars Donut and the Strawberry Supermoon Donut to celebrate the landing of NASA’s Perseverance Rover on the red planet.
- 2022, innovated with the Artemis Moon Donut for NASA’s Artemis I flight around the moon
