Sarah McNally (41) emigrated full of dreams to New York 10 years ago and never imagined that she would end up being the fatal victim of her boyfriend and Irish countryman, who has been accused of stabbing her in the bar where she worked as a waitress in Queens.

Marcin Pieciak, 36, had a knife in each hand when he allegedly attacked McNally inside “Ceili House” in Maspeth at dusk on Saturday, March 30, the NYPD said. He then stabbed himself with the same weapons and, although he was initially listed in critical condition, he survived and since the hospital has been charged with murder and weapons possession.

Pieciak and McNally, natives of Longford, Ireland, had been living together in the Glendale neighborhood of Queens for about a year, reported DailyNews.

By all indications, she was leading a very happy life and everything was going well for her in New York, which makes this news even more heartbreaking and disturbing for the people who know her.

Police responding to a 911 call at the bar on Grand Ave. near 69th Lane found McNally stabbed in the neck and Pieciak with knife wounds to her back and neck. Paramedics rushed them to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where McNally died. Pieciak was initially in critical condition, but has since been stabilized.

Before moving to the United States, McNally worked as a civil servant in the Irish Prison Service, said Martin Monaghan, president of Longford Town Borough Council.

According to Irish broadcaster RTÉ, Joe Flaherty, a member of parliament who serves in Longford, described her as a “wonderful, bright, vivacious, witty and charismatic young woman.” He added that her death was “tragic and deeply disturbing news.”

The motive for the crime is not clear. “By all indications, she was living a very happy life and doing well in New York, which makes this news even more heartbreaking and disturbing for the people who know her,” Flaherty added.

However, another version indicates that the waitress was thinking of returning to Ireland and had told her co-workers that “the relationship was not going well,” authorities revealed on Wednesday, he noted. New YorkPost.

McNally’s mother flew to New York to collect McNally’s remains and speak with detectives, the parliamentarian added.

All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
