Just four days after being involved in a traffic accident, Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice broke his silence and assumed responsibility for this incident, while apologizing to the people who were affected.
Through a statement published this Wednesday, the receiver of the current NFL champions reported that he has been collaborating with the authorities and took the time to assume his responsibility and send a message of regret to those affected.
“Today I met with investigators from the Dallas Police Department regarding Saturday’s accident. I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the authorities. “I sincerely apologize to all those affected by Saturday’s accident,” reads part of the statement.
Rashee Rice was being sought by Dalla police after a car registered to him was involved in an accident on Saturday, which left four people injured, two of whom had to be taken to the nearest hospital. The drivers of both vehicles fled the scene.
Just two days later, Royce West, the player’s lawyer, spoke about the case and reported that his client was fully cooperating with the authorities.
“Rashee’s thoughts are with everyone affected by Saturday’s car accident. Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and he will take all necessary measures to address this situation responsibly,” the lawyer said.
The report presented by the police on this accident revealed that the cars involved were a Lamborghini and a Corvette that were traveling at high speed, one of them owned by the Kansas City Chiefs player.
“The Lamborghini swerved and collided with the center wall, causing a pile-up involving four other vehicles. The occupants of the Lamborghini and the Corvette fled the scene without stopping to determine if anyone needed medical help or provide their information,” the report explains.
Rashee Rice came to the Chiefs selected in the second round of last year’s draft. His debut season was outstanding. He had 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns.
In the postseason he was in all four games that Kansas City played, including Super Bowl LVIII in which the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.
