Christian M. Samay, a 22-year-old political science student from New Jersey, was found dead in his fraternity house at Bucknell University of Pennsylvania, just weeks before graduation.

On Friday the university had issued an alert for a gunman, but that incident was not related to the student’s death, according to authorities. Pennsylvania State Police determined that the shooting alert had been a hoax coming from Virginia, he said. USA Today.

Samay, a native of Mountain Lakes, NJ, was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m. Saturday at the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity on University Avenue in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, the newspaper reported. The Tribune-Democrat.

“This is an indescribable loss for the Bucknell community, and our hearts go out to Christian’s family and friends,” university president John Bravman said in a statement. “I wish to point out that his death was not related to last night’s active gunman alert or the campus lockdown and that the circumstances are not suspicious. “I call on everyone at Bucknell to support each other through this difficult time and keep Christian’s family in your prayers.”

Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo was conducting an investigation and an autopsy was scheduled yesterday, although the death is not considered suspicious of criminal activity.

Samay was about to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in political science, according to his LinkedIn account. He had interned at M&T Bank in Baltimore, the KBW investment firm in Florham Park, New Jersey, and Digital Capital Advisors in New York City.
