Last summer Inter Miami began its plan to put together a highly competitive team. The first step was to bring in the world champion with Argentina, Lionel Messi, along with him Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets joined.
In January another former FC Barcelona player joined the South Florida franchise. This was Luis Suárez, who transferred his goals from Gremio in Brazil to Inter Miami and teamed up with Messi again three years later.
It seems that it took Suárez very little time to adapt to the new league. And the Uruguayan already stands out as a scorer in the MLS to such an extent that he was recently chosen as the best player of February and March in Major League Soccer.
In his first 10 games with the Inter Miami jersey (7 in MLS and 3 in the Concacaf Champions League), the “Pistolero” has seven goals and another five assists. He is not only the top scorer for the “Herons” team, but also the second highest scorer in the MLS with five goals.
This recognition for Luis Suárez is also historic for the American franchise. Well, for the first time in its history, an Inter Miami player receives this award given by the MLS to the player with the best performance of the month.
Luis Suárez does not miss Messi
Inter Miami currently has a significant loss and it is Lionel Messi. The Argentine has missed the last six matches between MLS and the Champions League, however the good performance of Luis Suárez has meant that the team hardly misses the Argentine star.
Currently Inter Miami remains in second position in the Eastern Conference only behind Cincinnati and just one point. The next game for the South Florida franchise will be against the Colorado Rapids. Meeting where Lionel Messi’s return to the field is also expected.
