Saúl Canelo Álvarez’s fight with Jaime Munguía on May 4 in Las Vegas will capture all the attention of the boxing world.
Well, Canelo will have his fourth defense of the undisputed super middleweight title, a record that will give the label the highest number of exhibitions for a champion in this category.
Although the fight against Munguía did not leave several people happy, among them David Benavidez, who is the mandatory challenger of the WBC and who, sometimes criticizing him, has sought to realize his opportunity.
At the time, Álvarez acknowledged that Munguía’s respectful attitude also influenced his decision, which could be assumed as a comment against Benavidez.
“There is no need to talk so much. There are some who talk a lot and do little. We have already seen it many times. At the end of the day, when a person is serious and respectful, that is when the most big fights have been made. There is no need to talk so much to do things,” said the one from Jalisco in an interview on TUDN.
Canelo without problems with Munguía
One month before the bell rings in ‘Sin City’, Canelo stressed that the fight should stay in the ring, instead of heating it up with controversial statements.
“That’s how it should be, there is no need to talk so much. There are some who talk a lot and do little and we have already seen that many times,” he mentioned.
And he insisted: “At the end of the day, when a person is serious and respectful, that is when the most big fights have been made. There is no need to talk so much.”
On the other hand, Canelo Álvarez highlighted the level that the Tijuana native has shown, to whom he will give the opportunity for the unified super middleweight title.
“Well, the truth is that he has been doing things well. She has put her whole heart into it and has earned the opportunity to be fighting for the four titles.”
