The president of Rayados de Monterrey, José Antonio ‘Tato’ Noriega, decided to speak about the controversy that occurred moments after the match between La Pandilla and Inter Miami of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup; In this match dominated by the Mexicans, the Argentine striker Lionel Messi starred in an uncomfortable moment when he threw some harsh words against coach Fernando Ortiz and other members of his team.

These statements were made during an interview offered to TUDN journalist, Javier Rojas, after his arrival at the Monterrey airport in which the manager highlighted that this type of act should not occur in any type of competition and for this reason they filed a complaint with Concacaf to begin an investigation against the United States club and the Qatar 2022 World Cup champion with the albiceleste.

“No, this is not the time to talk about that, because there must be a report and investigation, I am not going here to deny that things happened, but at another time I will give details and we will be waiting for that report from the corresponding authorities to then establish our position,” said Tato Noriega.

“I repeat, I would not like to get into controversy because I could dirty the situation. So, we will wait for the proper facts regarding the procedures and corresponding. And then talk about them,” he added in his statements.

For his part, Fernando Ortiz decided not to talk about what happened in the Chase Stadium locker room after finishing the Champions Cup match, which practically ensured his participation in the semifinal round to win the title of champion; He maintained that he does not want to create further controversy and that he will only wait for the Concacaf regulation.

“Good evening everyone, what happened is going to remain there, those are all the things that are talked about. I am not going to give any statement regarding that. I’m not here to report any of that. I’m not aware of that. I’m not going to talk about the issue, it’s something that arose there and his intentions were always the best and we’re going to leave it there,” highlighted the Rayados de Monterrey coach.

The second leg of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup will be played next Wednesday, April 10 at the BBVA Stadium in Nuevo León, Mexico, where La Pandilla will seek to advance to the next round of the international tournament.
