After the release of the fourth film in the successful saga of living toys, “Toy Story”, in 2019, everyone thought that the story of Woody and his friends was over. However, and to the surprise of many, last year, in 2023, Disney announced that a fifth was on the way.
However, it was not until April 5 that the same mouse company announced that film number five in the franchise started by director John Lasseter in 1995, will hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
It is worth mentioning that the recent revelation of the release date of “Toy Story 5” is part of Disney’s release strategy for the following years.
What will the fifth Toy Story movie be about?
Although details regarding the fifth film of the adventures about Woody and Buzz Lightyear are still scarce, sources close to the production of the film have revealed that the original group of toys will return to say goodbye permanently.
It should be remembered that after the departure of Andy, the owner of the toys, from the fourth film, a large number of rumors indicated that he would return for a new film. Given this, and thanks to recent leaks, everything seems to indicate that Andy will meet his toys again in his adult stage.
From the above, Tom Hanks, the voice of Woody, as well as Tim Allen, Buzz Lightyear, seems more than safe. It is important to note that film number 4 in the saga exceeded one billion dollars in 2019.
