A 51-year-old man was injured and attacked his young wife and their three-month-old baby during a confrontation on a street in Manhattan’s East Harlem (NYC), leaving the newborn hospitalized, police said.
Officers found Parnel Dupoux suffering from stab wounds and bruises. He had apparently attacked his wife and baby, who were still near him, but he falsely told NYPD that he had been shot in the leg.
The infant suffered injuries to his back, neck and leg and his mother had a deep cut on her right arm, he described. DailyNews.
The 26-year-old mother punched and stabbed her husband with a broomstick while fighting him during the fight early Thursday outside a building at E. 101st St. and First Ave., according to 1010 WINS.
The woman was holding the baby when Dupoux allegedly attacked them, NYPD said. Paramedics took the newborn to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell in stable condition. The unidentified mother was treated at the scene.
Dupoux was also taken to the same hospital in stable condition. He was later charged with attempted murder, assault and behavior injurious to a minor.
All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Last Good Friday, a 9-year-old Latino boy died in a burning car behind a high school in New Jersey and his father, a school employee, was accused of setting the fire after a domestic dispute.
Days earlier, a 2-year-old Hispanic baby was disconnected from life support after being seriously injured in a fire in Upper Manhattan. His 1-year-old brother is still hospitalized with brain death and their mother had already been arrested because she had left them alone at home the night when the fire broke out for an undetermined cause.
