Chef José Andrés, founder of the NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK), and global culinary personality, spoke after the attack on his headquarters by Israeli forces last week, in which seven aid workers were killed.

Through an interview given to the ABC network on its program ‘This Week’, chef José Andrés accused Israel of waging a war “against humanity itself”, and described the tragic event as “unforgivable”, highlighting that these attacks have affected “anything that seems to move.”

Likewise, the chef, of Spanish origin, questioned the nature of these attacks, and pointed out that they no longer seem to be due to a war against terror or a defense of Israel. Instead, he suggested that these attacks appear to be a war against humanity.

The famous chef has called for a deeper investigation to determine why the WCK convoy was attacked, since the incident occurred even though the vehicles were clearly marked with the organization’s logo and all their movements had been communicated to the Israeli Armed Forces. .

The need for an independent investigation “is imperative,” Andrés acknowledges, and stressed that “whoever carried out the attack cannot investigate himself.” His organization WCK has asked the governments of the United States, Australia, Canada, Poland and the United Kingdom, countries of origin of the deceased aid workers, to carry out an independent investigation.

In the first conclusions of its investigation, the Israeli Armed Forces have attributed the attack to a chain of “serious errors.” They have claimed that they mistakenly fired shots believing that there were two “gunmen” inside the vehicles, and that they were Hamas terrorists.

But despite these conclusions and thanking the Israeli forces for the speed of the investigation, he later questioned its conclusions. “Every time something happens, we can’t just throw Hamas into the equation,” he said.

For its part, the White House has ruled out carrying out its own investigation of the event, and has limited itself to saying that it trusts that the Israeli Executive will carry out an “exhaustive, complete and transparent” investigation.
