The renowned Mexican actor Ernesto Gómez Cruz, who participated in famous films such as “Los Caifanes”, “El Callejón de los Milagros” and “El Infierno”, died at the age of 90, reported The National Association of Actors (ANDA).

“The National Association of Actors regrets the sensitive death of our Comrade Ernesto Gómez Cruz. Our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” ANDA said through a message published on its Instagram and X accounts, formerly Twitter.

In addition, he noted that the artistic community of Mexico “suffers the loss of a great artist and colleague.”

In 2018, Gómez Cruz received a tribute at the National Cinematheque in Mexico City and a medal to recognize his 50 years of career.

Among his achievements, seven Ariel awards stand out, of which two were for Best Actor, four for Best Male Co-Acting and one for Best Feature Actor.

During his career Gómez Cruz added more than 125 titles to his filmography, according to data from the Spanish portal Filmaffinity.

At the moment the causes behind the death of Ernesto Gómez Cruz have not been revealed, since not even the family or friends close to the first actor have addressed the issue.

A few years ago, it was the actor himself who revealed that he had some episodes of memory loss, which sparked some rumors that he could suffer from signs of Alzheimer’s. However, that diagnosis was never confirmed.

It should be noted that there is no data that the first actor’s health was at risk due to suffering from any illness.
