Venezuelan striker Salomón Rondón became the top scorer of Mexican soccer Clausura by scoring in Pachuca’s 0-3 victory over Tigres UANL on matchday 14 of the championship. Rondón scored his eighth goal in the championship, placing himself as the sole leader of the scoring table.
As reported by EFE, Pachuca, led by Uruguayan coach Guillermo Almada, achieved an important victory that placed it in fourth place in the table. Colombian Nelson Deossa and Jesús Hernández also contributed goals for the Tuzos.
After an even first half, Pachuca dominated the second half, with Rondón opening the scoring in the 66th minute. The team extended its advantage with goals from Deossa in the 68th and from Hernández in the 85th.
With this result, Pachuca reached 25 points in the table, one more than the Tigres, who are in seventh position.
In another notable match, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández scored his first goal in Mexico in almost 14 years in Guadalajara’s 3-2 victory over Puebla. ‘Chicharito’ scored with his left foot after a pass from Roberto Alvarado in the 34th minute, his first goal in Mexico since April 2010.
In addition, Querétaro beat León 0-2 with goals from Samuel Sosa and Pablo Barrera, while the Pumas UNAM beat Mazatlán 0-4 and Necaxa defeated Tijuana 2-3 in other matches on matchday 14.
