This Wednesday, April 9, the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League begin, thus continuing the exciting competition that is considered the most important at the club level in Europe and around the world.
In this stage, three teams from Spain, two from England and Germany, along with one from France, will face each other in an exciting battle to win the UEFA Champions League, the final of which will be held at the iconic Wembley Stadium.
The first leg matches will be played on Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10, while the return matches will take place the following week, on April 16 and 17.
Real Madrid and Manchester City will relive their semi-final clash from last season, while FC Barcelona will take on Kylian Mbappé-led PSG. On the other hand, Atlético de Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund, and Arsenal will face Bayern Munich.
Despite the UEFA draw being pure, all three Spanish teams avoided meeting each other in the quarter-finals, meaning that only two of them, Atlético and Barça, could meet in the semi-finals. If they reach this stage, Real Madrid would face the winner of the duel between Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Manchester City, the current champions, have played eight games so far and won all of them. For its part, Real Madrid, the tournament’s top champion, also finished the group stage with a perfect score, although it had difficulty getting past the round of 16.
Bayern Munich, despite its irregularity in the Bundesliga, has shown authority in the Champions League, while Arsenal returns to the quarterfinals after 14 years.
One of the most notable confrontations will be between PSG and Barcelona. The French team suffered in the group stage but shone in the round of 16, led by Kylian Mbappé. On the other hand, Barcelona returns to the quarterfinals after two years, eliminating Napoli in the round of 16.
In the duel between Borussia Dortmund and Atlético de Madrid, the German team won in the round of 16 and managed to qualify for the quarterfinals, while Atlético eliminated the last runner-up Inter in a penalty shootout.
