Millions of fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently went crazy after learning that Robert Downey Jr. is open to reprising his iconic role as Iron Man in the future.

It was the actor himself who assured that he would love to put on Tony Stark’s metallic suit again, even though Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has ruled out this possibility in the past.

“I would happily play it again. It’s too integral a part of my DNA. “That role chose me,” said the recent Oscar winner in an exclusive interview for Esquire magazine.

“And I always say: never bet against Kevin Feige. He’s a losing bet. He is the owner of the house. He will always win.”

Kevin Feige does not plan to return Iron Man to the MCU

In the past, Feige has reiterated that he does not plan to return Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man to the MCU because his cycle in the franchise came to an epic and memorable end in the film “Avengers: Endgame”, so returning to the character could damage his legacy.

“We are going to keep that moment and not touch it again,” Feige told Vanity Fair magazine in December of last year, referring to the character’s death in Edgame. “We all worked very hard for many years to get to that moment, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”

Downey Jr, who played Iron Man and his counterpart Tony Stark in 10 MCU films, won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor this year for his role in the multi-award-winning film “Oppenheimer.”
