New York – The man accused in Puerto Rico of kidnapping a woman twice in the same day had been arrested by federal marshals in the United States, in March 2023, for another case.

In a press release released this Tuesday, the Puerto Rico Police identified the suspect as Kaleb Villafañe Rosario, 23 years old.

The investigation, led by the Domestic Violence Division and the Intelligence and Arrests Division of Arecibo, indicates that Villafañe Rosario kidnapped his 20-year-old ex-partner at gunpoint at a gas station in the Barahona sector in Morovis, a municipality in the center of the island.

“Threatening to kill her, the subject kept her in the moving vehicle for hours of the night and early morning. In the morning, the individual gets out of the vehicle and fires a few shots in the air, which the victim took advantage of to flee in his car,” the report details.

“The young woman returns to her residence, where the man arrived, and, for the second time, threatening to kill her with a weapon, he took her away in the car,” the report adds.

After relatives managed to convince him to return her to the house, the victim arrived at the Morovis barracks to file a complaint.

As a preventive measure, officers recommended that the victim spend the night in a safer place and accompanied her to the residence to collect her belongings.

Upon arriving at the scene, they detected an aluminum ladder leading to an open window on the second floor.

Upon entering the home, they encountered Villafañe Rosario in the woman’s bed with an illegal black pistol in her chest area and her clothing on her face. The agents also confiscated a Glock pistol with an automatic firing device.

Additionally, officers Carlos Pérez and Pedro Ramos seized ammunition and two magazines.

Villafañe Rosario is linked to two other criminal cases.

Previously, the man had been investigated for gender violence. He was also accused of murder and violation of the Weapons Law for an incident that occurred in February 2023. In that instance, Yordan Sánchez Colón, 41, was killed. The charges in this case were filed in absentia. The suspect was given $1.4 million bail. After requesting citizen help to find the whereabouts of the alleged criminal, uniformed officers captured Villafañe Rosario in Phenix City, Alabama.
