This Sunday, Club América’s leadership in the Clausura 2024 tournament of the Liga MX was officially certified, after the Águilas dominated the regular phase of the tournament with 35 points from 10 wins, five draws and just two losses.

After the victory as a visitor against last-place Puebla, América was able to secure first place and not succumb to the pressure of Cruz Azul, which ultimately placed itself in second place with 33 points, in order to ensure closing all the series of the final phase at home.

In this match against Puebla, the Brazilian André Jardine, the team’s coach, saved his best players to visit Pachuca this Tuesday in the second leg of the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup, and was still able to win thanks to two goals from Salvador Reyes, who only played his sixth game as a starter in the competition.

Along with the leadership of América, the tournament’s scorers were also known, which as a curiosity was distributed among four forwards: Salomón Rondón (Pachuca), Uriel Antuna (Cruz Azul), Federico Viñas (Club León) and Diber Cambindo (Necaxa), all of them with eight notes.

Now, América will wait in the quarterfinals for their confrontation in the final phase, which will come from the play-in between Pachuca, the UNAM Pumas, Necaxa and the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth respectively. , who will play a play-off this week.

It will not be until next May 8 when the quarterfinal matches of the Liga MX begin and they already have two keys defined with the clashes between Tigres de la UANL against Monterrey and the clash between Chivas de Guadalajara and Deportivo Toluca.
