In recent days, the graduation dance of the Atrisco Heritage Academy high school in Albuquerque was held, but all the students were surprised when they presented an unusual show, which unleashed the fury of the parents, who demanded to know who authorized a show by a drag queen artist.
The principal of Atrisco Heritage Academy high school was replaced after several videos on social media went viral about a show where a drag queen dancer performed sexual and provocative movements in front of all the students at their prom.
The show was during the prom
Albuquerque Public Schools Chief Channell Segura sent a letter to parents confirming that the performance occurred during the April 20 prom and said an investigation would determine how it happened and how it may have affected students, he reported. KOB 4.
As they described, the students formed a circle and in the center was the artist, who was wearing a provocative black suit with thigh-high boots of the same color. To the rhythm of the music and under the applause and shouts of the students, the artist’s show was to sway provocatively, while some recorded her.
The same media outlet revealed that the drag queen artist is known as Mythica Sahreen and works with the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance. She said she was not paid for her performance, but she did not reveal who hired her.
The parents were very angry with the spectacle, since they consider that this could affect their children and asked for an explanation.
School staff placed on administrative leave
School district spokesman Martin Salazar declined to say whether the action was approved by school officials. The only thing they confirmed is that some school workers were placed on administrative leave while they carry out the investigation.
For the moment, the high school principal was replaced, and the school district appointed Anthony Lovato as interim principal and whose name already appears in the Atrisco Heritage Academy school directory.
Some students who were during the show told KOB 4 that they were not offended by the dance, although it did surprise them because they did not expect something like that or the way the artist moved.
