The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture reported that the company 802 VT Frozen is recalling approximately 8,221 pounds of frozen meat pizza due to labeling errors and undeclared allergens.

802 VT Frozen, an establishment in Newport, Vermont, decided to remove the product from the market because it contains soy, a known allergen that is not declared on the product label.

The batch of pizzas were produced between April 25, 2023 and April 25, 2024, and were packaged in 17.8-ounce cardboard boxes.

The product description indicates that each box contains “802 VT Frozen MEAT! CRISPY HANDMADE WOOD-FIRED DOUGH PIZZA” with “best if used by” dates of April 25, 2024 to April 25, 2025.

Consumers are recommended to pay attention to the specifications of the product subject to recall identified with the establishment number “EST. 46308” within the USDA inspection mark.

The frozen meat pizzas were distributed to retailers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

During a routine FSIS inspection, the problem was discovered and it was determined that the product contained soy, which was not declared on the label.

To date, there have been no reports of people affected by the consumption of frozen meat pizza, however, FSIS recommends that if some consumers may have products in their homes, do not consume them, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
