The relationship between Canelo Álvarez and Óscar de la Hoya continues to plummet and now it has been Tapatío who took the microphones to once again make it clear that there is no way for them to cultivate a friendship or work together again.

During a recent interview for BoxingScene, Canelo Álvarez said that he has no interest in interacting with people like De la Hoya again because in his opinion he promotes bad vibes that he does not want in his life.

“I’m not interested in being your friend. I’m fine where I am. I have nothing to do with him. I wish him all the best and he’s done, but I don’t want him in my life. I don’t want him near me. “I don’t want that kind of vibes in my life,” said the Mexican in the days before the fight he will have against Jaime Munguía, who belongs to Golden Boy, De La Hoya’s promoter.

Although in the past Canelo Álvarez and De la Hoya maintained a cordial relationship, especially for having worked together, in 2020 they broke the contract after the 33-year-old boxer sued in court alleging breach of contract, something that from those around Golden Boy They did not see it favorably.

Now, years later and faced with the need to negotiate for the fight against Munguía, they were forced to maintain goodwill to close the fight but although De la Hoya supposedly tried to maintain at least a stable working relationship, it was not possible and El Niño de Oro in the end also sent him a message in the documentary that premiered a few months ago on the Max streaming platform.

“The only thing (Canelo) has against me is my personal life. Do you want to continue kicking a man while he is down, at that moment? He said in the audiovisual production.

Furthermore, he took the opportunity to clarify that he always makes his comments towards Canelo Álvarez from the boxing environment and never from a personal perspective, confirming that he has every right to comment on his performance in the ring for having been a successful boxer in the past.

“I never talk s–t in his personal life. I keep it in boxing. That’s what I know. I have every right to criticize because I have been there as a 10-time world champion in six divisions. I know what’s happening inside the ring. If you want to attack me in my personal life, then it’s your fault,” he added.

It is likely that both Canelo Álvarez and Óscar de la Hoya will meet before the fight against Munguía but it has already become clear that each of them will probably focus on their own thing and that there will be no interaction between the two.
