The New York Yankees and the Milwaukee Brewers faced off in an exciting series that was ultimately won by the Mules 2-1 and catcher Gary Sánchez took advantage of the matches to reunite with several of his teammates on the team that saw him debut in the Major Leagues.
In a press conference after the Yankees’ 15-5 victory over the Brewers, Sánchez took time to remember the moments he experienced with the team that debuted in the Major Leagues in 2015 and assured that a key part that he misses from his time in the Bronx They were the moments he experienced in the playoffs.
“There are always good memories with the Yankees. The playoffs are something that you certainly always remember, but with the Yankees, I felt like I had played 162 playoff games,” he commented in statements to journalist Mike Goodman.
He then described the series he experienced with the Yankees in the postseason as an eternity, although he was unable to win a World Series championship ring.
“In every game, you are there to win and you feel it. You feel like everyone is trying to accomplish the same mission. It really feels like 162 playoff games there,” Sánchez added.
Sánchez, who at some point was considered one of the Yankees’ most important prospects, played in the team between 2015 and 2021 and had important moments in the playoffs, being traded in 2022 to the Minnesota Twins. However, since then, he has not been able to establish himself as a starter in the teams where he played (New York Mets, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres).
Therefore, before saying goodbye, Sánchez referred to the lack of consistency he has had after leaving New York but made it clear that it was thanks to his performance in the past with the Yankees that doors continue to open for him in Major League baseball.
“It hasn’t been like before in my career, when I played every day. But they have given me possibilities and opportunities. Thank God, I have been able to contribute to some victories,” he closed the mask.
