In a tragic accident on Saturday, a two-year-old boy lost his life after a bounce house he was playing in was lifted by a gust of wind and crashed into a neighboring lot in Arizona.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the giant bounce house was blown away by the wind around 5:00 p.m. with several children inside, including the little boy, who was the only fatality in the accident. Although the boy was rushed to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries, AZ Central reported.
A second child was also injured in the incident, but it was determined that his injuries were not life-threatening. The sheriff’s office has called the incident a “tragic accident” and has expressed its sincere thoughts and prayers to the grieving family, FOX 11 reported.
The victim, identified by a family friend as Bodhi, is the son of a Phoenix firefighter. Phoenix firefighters shared the sad news in an Instagram post, revealing that Bodhi’s parents, Karl and Cristy, are expecting another child in late May.
In response to the tragic episode, a fundraiser was started to help the family with the corresponding expenses. So far, the community has shown its support and fundraising has exceeded $83,000.
A family friend issued a statement asking for fundraising help: “As a community, we want to offer our support and ease the financial burden that accompanies these types of tragedies. “Your donations will help Karl and Cristy focus on grieving their beloved Bodhi as they prepare for the new chapter of their lives.”
