Everything is ready for the fight between Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and his challenger Jaime Munguía on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and for that reason this Tuesday the undisputed champion assured that he will not only triumph in said fight but who also believes he will be able to knock out his rival.
Both Canelo Álvarez and Munguía arrived at the Los Angeles airport this Tuesday and Tapatío was immediately approached by the press to ask about his opinion of the duel, leaving zero room for a defeat and stating that a KO will always be his first option.
“I think it will be a very interesting fight, especially in the first rounds, but I see myself winning this fight by knockout before the eighth round,” he said before the Box Azteca cameras.
As if that were not enough, he spoke of the historical nature of their fight, noting that never in history had there been a fight where two Mexicans faced each other for four world titles.
“It is history, it has never been seen in boxing that two fighters compete for the four titles, so I am very happy to be able to bring this new story to Mexico,” he added before saying goodbye on the way to his lodging, where his preparation will culminate.
The media then attended to Munguía and he also agreed that he will try to achieve the feat of knockout, although he believes it will be difficult and he will seek his victory with intelligent boxing.
“I think it is an interesting, difficult fight, but we are going to look for it (the knockout). Above all, make an exciting fight for everyone. (…) I think you have to be very careful, (Canelo) is very intelligent, you have to have a cerebral, intelligent fight,” he indicated.
Now both Canelo Álvarez and Jaime Munguía will face each other once again before fighting in the ring this Friday when they go on the scales for the official weigh-in of the event.
