Daequan Buckley, a 24-year-old young man, was shot to death behind the wheel by a passenger inside a luxury BMW car in Brooklyn (NYC).
Buckley was shot several times in the abdomen outside the Magic Fingers Studio hair salon near E. 54th St. and Church Ave. in East Flatbush around 8:20 p.m. Saturday, the NYPD said. It was the 3rd homicide this month within the confines of Police Station 67, he highlighted. DailyNews.
“They were sitting together in the car… The guy shot him three times.”
“The gunman was a passenger in the car and the victim was in the driver’s seat,” said a woman who works in the area and witnessed the bloodshed. “They were sitting together in the car.” She added that the vehicle had temporary paper plates. “The guy shot him three times, got out of the car and drove away… The area is horrible. I’m not surprised to see this happen. I have worked in the area for two years. Not good.”
Paramedics took Buckley to Brookdale University Hospital, but were unable to save him. Police detained two people, one of them carrying a gun, as suspects.
This homicide occurred just a week after nearby, on April 20, Anthony Lancaster (40), an immigrant warehouse owner, was shot to death on E. 53th St. and Clarkson Ave. Three days earlier, Gamaliel Oliver (45 ) was also shot and killed on E. 98th St. near Lenox Road in East Flatbush.
The 67th District has seen an increase in homicides this year, with seven cases as of April 21 compared to five at the same time last year.
Overall homicides throughout the city have decreased more than 18% so far this year compared to the same period in 2023.
