Washington – The president of the United States, Joe Biden, said this Wednesday that Florida’s new abortion law that came into force this midnight is a “nightmare” whose responsibility is his predecessor and current candidate for the White House, Donald Trump.

The new state law restricts abortion after the sixth week of pregnancy.

“An extreme abortion ban goes into effect today in Florida, banning reproductive health care at a point before many women even know they are pregnant. There is someone responsible for this nightmare: Donald Trump,” he said in a statement from his Biden campaign.

The president recalled that Trump boasts that the judges he appointed to the Supreme Court revoked the ruling that had allowed abortion throughout the country for 50 years, “making extreme bans like those in Florida possible.”

“Now he wants to go even further and has made it very clear that, if elected, he would sign a national ban on abortion,” Biden warned about Trump’s plans, who although he said weeks ago that he supported a restriction at 15 weeks now seems to have misfortune

The restrictions in Florida are the latest adopted by dozens of conservative states in the United States that, after the Supreme Court ruling in 2022, have made it very difficult for women to obtain abortions where Republicans govern.

In Florida, a referendum is scheduled for November, coinciding with the presidential elections, in which voters will have to decide precisely on the right to abortion in that southern state.
