A young man from North Carolina has left everyone speechless by following his instinct and turning a $20 lottery ticket into an impressive $2 million prize.

Donnie Leviner, just 18 years old, tells how a strange hunch led him to buy some lottery tickets while stopping at the Sneads Grove store in Laurel Hill. According to Leviner, he had initially only gone to the store to fill the gas tank of his lawnmower, but something inside him told him to try his luck at some game.

“Something told me to buy it,” the boy said, referring to the lottery ticket that would change his life forever.

Surprise and disbelief were Leviner’s first reactions upon discovering that his hunch had been more than correct. After scratching the ticket, he found that he had won an impressive $2 million prize in the North Carolina Education Lottery’s Big Cash Payout game.

“I didn’t really think it was true,” Leviner admitted, taking in the magnitude of his incredible victory.

This Monday, Leviner made his dream come true by collecting the prize at lottery headquarters. He opted to receive the money in a lump sum of $1.2 million, after required state and federal tax withholdings.
