Shakira’s long-awaited return to the international music scene, thanks to the release of her album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” last March, might not be the success that everyone, including the Colombian, expected.
And a little less than two months after the publication of their twelfth studio material, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” is barely tenth in the top 10 of the best-selling Latin albums in the United States.
The above becomes more alarming if we take into account that the performer of “Día de Enero” is below materials that have been in the ranking for months. In the case of the general list, the South American’s new work is in a distant number 156.
Although the above cannot be considered a total failure, the truth is that the development that the songs that make up the album are experiencing would confirm Shakira’s “failed” return to music.
How have Shakira’s songs developed?
The “warm” moment that Shakira is currently experiencing is preceded by the departure of the Colombian’s album, a few weeks ago, from the top 20 of the best-selling albums in the world.
In the case of her songs, the one that has “suffered the most” from the public’s lack of interest in the Colombian’s music was “Puntería.” To this day, the song, in collaboration with the American Cardi B, is not only outside the Top 200 of Apple Music. Even, and as proof of the bad moment that the businesswoman is also experiencing, the song does not appear in any Latin country within her Top 200 on Spotify.
At the time of writing this note, the song by Shakira and Cardi B has a minuscule amount of 30 million streams in a period of just over a month. Surprisingly, the song “Entre Paréntesis”, in which Shakira paid tribute to the Mexican regional with the help of Grupo Frontera, is above “Puntería” despite also being left out of the Top 20 radio stations in Latin countries.
In the case of Europe, the singer has not managed to position her songs to the point of being left out of the Top 100 with all her new material. It is even more worrying for the singer that her biggest success, from her new album, on various streaming platforms, at the moment, is the song “TQG”, released in February 2023 by Karol G, which reaches, barely, 87th place in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries.
Why is Shakira failing with “Las Mujeres No Ya Lloran”?
Despite the lack of exact evidence regarding Shakira’s announced “failure,” various sources close to the music industry point out that the story of separation between the Colombian and Gerard Piqué, which became the narrative thread of her music in the In recent years, it has been weakening over time.
In addition to the above, the choice of stars like Cardi B, who is in one of the lowest moments in her career, could have disappointed the public, who expected collaborations of greater scope and impact.
