Businessman and computer scientist Eric Schmidt has an enviable real estate portfolio that includes mansions in different cities in the United States, so it is not surprising that he and his wife Wendy have decided to sell their mansion in Silicon Valley, California.
The property just hit the real estate market with a price tag of $24.5 million, a figure that’s 12 times what the Schmidts paid for the place in the ’90s.
This property sits on a 3.3-acre lot and was originally built in the 1960s. Schmidt, former CEO and chairman of Google, owned the property for the past 30 years and did renovations and maintenance.
“It was carefully considered and designed to create a canvas of privacy and natural serenity, representing a tremendous opportunity to redefine what a legacy community in Atherton can be,” says listing agent Kat Carroll.
The European-style main house spans 5,625 square feet spread across five bedrooms, five bathrooms, foyer, living room, great room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and other amenities.
Of the interior of the property, mention must be made of its herringbone-style wooden floors, curved staircase with iron railing, French doors, large windows and more. The kitchen includes its own breakfast bar, marble countertops and high-end appliances including a Thermador stove.
On the other hand, the master bedroom has its own terrace, living room, dressing room and spa-like bathroom covered in marble.
In addition to the main house there is a guest house that was built a few years ago by Schwanke Architecture. There are also two motor courts and a detached garage with capacity for three vehicles.
The new owners will also have access to an Amdega Conservatory that was imported from the United Kingdom and is currently a greenhouse.
Outside there are extensive green areas with a terrace, swimming pool, spa area, dining room and other spaces ideal for enjoying the outdoors with family or friends.
