This Wednesday a report from ESPN reported that boxer Ryan García would have tested positive before and after his fight with Devin Haney. The young boxer would have ingested Ostarine, a substance prohibited by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Given this information, Ryan García himself came to his defense through his social networks. And after mocking the accusations, he even claimed that it was all a plot against him to try to take away his victory against Haney.

Recently, who also came out to support García’s words was his own promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, which is chaired by former boxer Óscar de la Hoya. The promoter of the young boxer assured in a statement that they are working to “determine how this discovery was reached.”

In addition, Golden Boy Promotions signed Ryan García’s denial of having ingested any illegal substance before his fight against Devin Haney last Saturday, April 20 at the Barclays Center in New York.

“Ryan has issued multiple statements denying the conscious use of prohibited substances, and we believe him,” the prestigious promoter launched through her statement to support Ryan García’s innocence.

Devin Haney also commented on it

On the other hand, Ryan’s rival that night, Devin Haney, did not take long to make his comments on the matter once the news of the boxer’s alleged ingestion of some illegal substance came to light.

“We learned about the situation recently and it is unfortunate that Ryan cheated and disrespected both the fans and boxing,” Haney began in a statement he released through his social networks.

“For fighting dirty and testing positive not just once, but twice. I have always been on the side of fighting fair and this is an example of that. Ryan owes the fans an apology and in his recent tweets he thinks this is a joke. We put our lives at risk to make a living entertaining people. “You don’t play boxing,” Haney concluded.

For now, no official body has issued comments on the matter. But if Ryan García’s doping is confirmed, not only would his victory against Haney be taken away from him, but he could face a suspension of up to two years out of the ring.
