Colin Ichiro Czech, accused of killing and eating part of a man’s face in Las Vegas, alleged to authorities that he was “possessed” at the time of the events.
After being arrested, Czech, 29, told detectives that he lost consciousness intermittently, and that, when he carried out the attack, he had been awake for five days because something possessed him.
Voices in his head supposedly told him to kill a person he didn’t know named “Drake.”
The USA Today report states that the suspect is in the Clark County Detention Center for the attack on Kenneth Brown on Sunday.
The events were reported at around 5:33 am on Las Vegas Boulevard near the Haunted Museum, according to information provided by the Metropolitan Police Department of that city.
The victim’s cause and manner of death will be released when the county coroner’s office completes the autopsy.
A witness called 911 to report that the suspect had attacked a customer and knocked him to the ground in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven.
The criminal complaint states that Czech hit Brown in the head, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect also allegedly hit his head on the concrete, screamed, and appeared paranoid.
About 45 minutes later, another caller reported that the same suspect was over the victim’s body near a bus stop eating his face.
Shortly after, officers arrived at the scene and discovered Brown unconscious with a bloody head.
Court documents cited by the aforementioned media detail that Czech was kneeling next to Brown with biological material in his hair, mouth and clothing. When officers questioned Czech at the scene, the man first gave them a “blank look” and then said the victim had attacked him.
Brown was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The man suffered a long cut on his head, and was missing an eye and an ear.
Czech later confessed that he used his teeth to eat Brown’s eyeballs and ears.
