The top star of the New York Mets, Francisco Lindor, became the hero of his team this Thursday when he hit a base-sweeping double in the bottom of the 11th inning to leave the field and achieve a 7-6 victory against the Chicago Cubs.

After an exciting match that in the nine regular innings ended tied at five runs, it was the 11th inning that brought the outcome courtesy of Lindor himself who arrived with the responsibility of putting his team to victory after the run that the Cubs had made in the top of the episode.

With runners on first and second and before the deliveries of Daniel Palencia, the infielder connected a solid line to the depths of left field with which he drove in Brett Baty and Harrison Bader to unleash madness and make the fans present in the stadium explode. Citi Field.

The curious thing is that Lindor’s performance was almost a photocopy of when he came on as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning, where he was also key by also hitting a double that drove Bader and Jeff McNeil to tie the game at 5-5.

In the end, Lindor’s personal performance ended with a 2-2 and four RBIs, leaving his statistics at an offensive average of .207 with 40 hits, five home runs and 25 runs scored in 31 games in the 2024 season.

With the Mets’ victory, those led by Venezuelan Carlos Mendoza leave their record at 16-15, to remain in third place in the East division of the National League.
