Washington – The campaign of the president of the United States, Democrat Joe Biden, intensified this Friday its fight for reproductive rights with a new advertisement that will be broadcast in Spanish and English and in which a former military officer criticizes Republican Donald Trump for attacking against women’s rights.

According to what the Biden campaign told EFE, the new advertisement that bears the title “Strong” in Spanish is part of a new seven-figure investment aimed at Latino voters and with ads on television, radio and digital platforms.

The ad, which will begin airing this Friday, stars César Carreon, a Marine Corps veteran and union carpenter from Las Vegas who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“I’m a Marine. I served in Iraq and Afghanistan and know strength when I see it. A man like Donald Trump who takes away women’s freedoms and is proud to do it? That’s not being strong. If he wants to take away more freedoms from my daughters, he will have to deal with me first,” says Carreon in the ad.

“I am with Joe Biden because he is going to return the freedoms to my daughters,” concludes Carreon, who appears surrounded by his daughters in the ad and also shows photos of his time in military service.

The advertisement will be broadcast in the key states for the November elections: Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada, the latter two with a significant proportion of the Hispanic population so they could be decisive in deciding who will be the next tenant of the White House.

In June 2022, the US Supreme Court overturned the “Roe v. Wade” ruling that had protected women’s reproductive rights for half a century and, thus, gave free rein to states to ban abortion. or set your own rules in this regard.

Abortion could end up being one of Trump’s weaknesses in the November elections, as many independent voters reject government intervention in reproductive rights.

Biden’s campaign has framed the defense of reproductive rights as a fight for freedom and has held Trump responsible for the end of ‘Roe v. Wade’ because he appointed three of the nine judges who ended abortion protections.

Abortion rights helped Democrats do better than expected in the 2022 midterm elections, and the Biden campaign is confident this will be repeated in November.
