Actor Kevin Spacey has generated controversy by challenging and attacking the upcoming documentary “Spacey Unmasked,” which promises to examine his life and professional career.

The series, which includes “never-before-seen interviews and archives,” will explore Spacey’s life, from his childhood to his rise to Hollywood. In addition, the accusations of sexual crimes against him, of which he was acquitted in 2023, will be addressed.

The 64-year-old actor accused Channel 4, of the United Kingdom, of not giving him a space to respond to the accusations against him.

“Over the last week, I have repeatedly requested that @Channel4 grant me more than 7 days to respond to the allegations made against me dating back 48 years and provide me with sufficient details to investigate these matters. Channel 4 has refused because it believes that asking for a response within 7 days to new, anonymous and non-specific allegations is a “fair opportunity” for me to refute any allegations made against me.”

“I will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network’s one-sided ‘documentary’ about me in its desperate attempt to get ratings. “There is a proper channel to handle the allegations against me and it is not Channel 4,” Spacey wrote in X.

The protagonist of the series “House of Cards” assured that the channel did not provide him with the space because it is a “fair opportunity” for him to refute any incrimination against him.

“Every time I have been given time and an appropriate forum to defend myself, the accusations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated,” he added.

Spacey promised to provide more answers about the docuseries over the weekend.

Directed and produced by Katherine Haywood, “Spacey Unmasked” is scheduled to air on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom on May 6 and 7, with the acquisition by Max for broadcast in the United States.
