Mexican fighter Saúl Canelo Álvarez won by unanimous decision, with scores in favor of 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112, against his compatriot Jaime Munguía in a fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With the victory Canelo Álvarez retained his world champion titles of the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and The Ring super middleweight .

Jaime Munguía, originally from Tijuana, started the fight with great confidence and dominated Canelo Álvarez from Guadalajara in the first three rounds.

With his left hand, Munguía passed bitter drinks to Canelo, who in the third episode received a shrapnel of blows from his rival.

In the fourth round, Canelo sent Munguía to the canvas, who got up almost immediately to put his chest to the bullets and continue the explosive fight.

From there, ‘Canelo’ showed his best version, with various combinations against an opponent who slowed down and decreased the power of his attacks.

Munguía resurfaced in the eighth round, combined better, escaped with accurate waist movements and made ‘Canelo’ miss, who tied the actions in the ninth, even.

Although he received two right hands to the face, Munguía again proposed to hit more in the tenth round. ‘Canelo’, with an advantage on the scorecards, bet more on the quality than the quantity of his blows and headed towards victory.

After 10 rounds of attrition, the two rivals showed great preparation; In the eleventh Munguía made impacts with the combinations and did not clash against the favorite.

‘Canelo’ waited on his feet for the final round and came out to knock out in the twelfth round. He did not succeed, but he landed good hits against a Munguía who, although defeated, did not clash and at times put the champion in trouble.

Álvarez reached 61 victories, 39 before the limit, with two draws and two losses, while Munguía lost his undefeated record after 43 victories, 34 by knockout.
