This Saturday, May 4, the death of former Lakers player Darius Morris was reported, who lost his life at just 33 years old due to causes that have not yet been clarified.
Morris shone as a college student at Michigan and after being chosen in the second round of the 2011 draft, he came to the NBA with the Lakers, his hometown team, being a teammate of Kobe Bryant and Paul Gasol between 2011 and 2013.
With the University of Michigan Wolverines team he set the assist record of 235 in a season, which years later was broken by Trey Burke.
He also went through the ranks of the Sixers, Clippers, Grizzlies and Nets, playing between 2011 and 2015 a total of 132 regular season games with averages of 3.3 points and 1.4 assists.
After playing in the NBA and also in the G League, Morris joined teams in the Chinese, Russian and French leagues, ending his sporting career in France in 2020.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Darius Aaron Morris. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect his wishes for privacy and grace,” the basketball player’s family reported in a statement.
