The Disciplinary Commission of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) issued a statement in which it sanctions the technical director of the Tuzos del Pachuca, Guillermo Almada, and the player Erick Sánchez for the statements they made during the press conference after the match of Play In against the UNAM Pumas in which they questioned the referees’ decisions for annulling the two goals scored by the Venezuelan Salomón Rondón that would have given them the victory in said match.
Through a statement on its account on the social network one day before the match that the club will play against the Rayos de Necaxa for the last ticket to the quarterfinals of the Clausura 2024 tournament of the Liga MX.
“DT Guillermo Almada and player Erick Sánchez, both from Club Pachuca, will be sanctioned by the Disciplinary Commission. The penalty results from reckless statements at a press conference and a publication on social networks, respectively, after the Play In match on May 2,” the letter says.
“The first receives the sanction every time he made unwise and untruthful comments against LIGA MX in a press conference last Monday, April 29 of this year; For his part, the player made a publication on his social networks questioning the honorability of the referee’s performance in the match played between the Pachuca Clubs and Universidad Nacional, on May 2, 2024 corresponding to the Play In A of the LIGA MX Clausura 2024 ″adds the Disciplinary Commission.
The Commission detailed that both Almada and Sánchez transgressed the Sanctions Regulations of the Mexican Football Federation, in particular article 71 paragraph c) which states the following:
“To that Player, member of the Technical Staff and/or Official who makes, through the media and/or social networks, criticism or negative comments about the refereeing and/or VAR.”
Finally, the Disciplinary Commission sent a warning to the Pachuca Club of future statements of this type after the match against Necaxa and affirmed that if they are repeated, those involved could receive a greater sanction than that stipulated this Friday.
“The Pachuca Club is warned about the future conduct of its Players and Coaching Staff, since in the event that this type of actions arise again, the Disciplinary Commission may impose more severe sanctions against them,” the text concludes.
Statements by Almada and Sánchez
The Uruguayan coach criticized this week the complicated schedule that his team was presenting with respect to the final phase of the Clausura 2024 tournament of the Liga MX and also the connection with the Concacaf Champions Cup matches, for which he maintained that it was something that would affect the performance of your staff.
“The capacity for astonishment does not have, in truth, reasoning, we are going to be a laughing stock, all of us who make up Mexican soccer, international soccer, because these things don’t happen anymore. And if we want to grow the League, as they keep communicating and saying, situations like this are regrettable. We are putting the health of the footballers, who are human beings, at risk. “What happens is that those in long pants were never on a field,” he said.
For his part, Erick Sánchez criticized the annulment of one of the two goals against Pachuca with an image on social networks in which he placed the supposed moment of the pass in one of those two annulled plays.
