Four senior managers of the Penske team, including its president Tim Cindric, were temporarily suspended from their positions after it was discovered that their vehicles used an illegal system that provided them with additional power in IndyCar races, a resource that is prohibited by the organization.

Ron Ruzewski, managing director, and engineers Luke Mason, Robbie Atkinson, along with Cindric, were suspended for altering the system of said vehicles.

These four members of Penske will not be able to participate in the Sonsio Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500 races due to the suspension dictated by the company’s own CEO, Roger Penske.

Two weeks ago, the team announced that the victory achieved by driver Josef Newgarden in the first race of the season had to be annulled after it was discovered that he had illegally used the ‘push-to-pass’ system.

But not only had Newgarden been disqualified, Scott McLaughlin, from the same team, was found committing the same irregularity.

“An extensive review of race data revealed that the Penske team manipulated the system in passing so that the numbers 2, 3 and 12 cars had the ability to use push-to-pass at starts and restarts.” IndyCar announced.

After what happened, Roger Penske has expressed his discontent and has also apologized for these events that occurred in his team.

“I recognize the magnitude of what has happened and the impact it continues to have on the sport to which I have dedicated so many decades (…)The entire Penske team, along with our fans and corporate partners, should know that I apologize for the mistakes we have made. committed and I deeply regret it,” he said.

Likewise, Penske noted that despite how embarrassing this may mean for his team, he will keep his head held high. “This is an unfortunate situation and when you are the leader you have to take action. We did it and we will continue. “I’m not trying to win a popularity contest,” he said.
