The global streaming platform, Netflix, announced this Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with the Professional American Football League (NFL) to broadcast the Christmas Day games of the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Netflix’s content director, Bela Bajaria, expressed her excitement about it and highlighted the importance of these games only being able to be seen through the American streaming platform.

“There are no annual live events, sporting or otherwise, that compare to the audiences that NFL football attracts. “We are very excited that the NFL Christmas Day games are only on Netflix,” he stated.

On December 25, the NFL Christmas game can only be seen on Netflix. Likewise, the platform has made it known that it will broadcast at least one of the games that take place during this holiday in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

It is not Netflix’s first approach to American football, a couple of years ago the platform broadcast series with players from the league, such as: Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kirk Cousins, of the Minnesota Vikings; and Marcus Mariota, of the Washington Commanders.

He will do the same this year, with the launch of the ‘Reciver’ series, which will show the career of receivers Davante Adams, of the Las Vegas Raiders; Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings; George Kittle and Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers; and Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions.

For Hans Schroeder, executive vice president of media distribution for the NFL, he also expressed his excitement at being the first professional sports league to partner with Netflix to carry live games.

“The NFL at Christmas has become a tradition and the partnership with Netflix is the perfect combination to grow this event globally for NFL fans,” stressed Hans Schroeder.
