Manchester United were crowned champions of the FA Cup after beating Manchester City 2-0 in a vibrant final.
The “Red Devils”, who were coming off a ten-year title drought, took advantage of City’s defensive errors to take an early lead with a goal from Alejandro Garnacho in the 30th minute.
The second goal came in the 39th minute, by Kobbie Mainoo, after a quick combination on United’s left flank.
City, despite dominating ball possession, could not find the formula to overcome United’s solid defense and the stellar performance of goalkeeper André Onana.
However, a late goal from Jeremy Doku for City did not overshadow United’s great victory, the most important in the last six years, for the moment and for the rival.
United’s victory is especially significant for having been achieved against its biggest rival and for having ended City’s streak of two consecutive years winning the Premier League and the English Cup.
Erik Ten Hag, criticized for his style of play, has achieved an important victory in his first season at the helm of the team.
