The historic English footballer and football coach, Wayne Rooney, has been presented as the new technical director of his country’s Plymouth Argyle FC to help them win the championship title in what will be a new opportunity as a coach after commanding DC United and to Birmingham City.

The information was announced by the British soccer team through its account on the social network

“We are delighted to announce that Wayne Rooney has been appointed as the new head coach of Plymouth Argyle. His appointment follows a long and exhaustive recruitment process, as a result of which he interviewed several highly experienced managers and head coaches. “Wayne, however, stood out as the right candidate for Argyle,” the club said.

“Rooney’s managerial experience so far has demonstrated his strong character and his ability to fight against all odds. This is emphasized by his first full season in charge of Derby County, where his young team earned 55 points despite off-field administrative problems affecting the club. Since then, he has had managerial experience in the MLS at DC United, where results improved as he left his own stamp on the team, and in the Championship with Birmingham City,” the statement added.

For his part, the president of Plymouth Argyle, Simon Hallett, was quite happy to be able to count on the services of the footballer who already has a solid base of knowledge in Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Premier League.

“Throughout the interview process, Wayne demonstrated himself to be a passionate, intelligent and knowledgeable candidate, eager to prove himself and develop his management career. So much so that he approached the board of directors when we started this process and was attracted to the project at hand and showed a real plan on how to move the football club forward,” he emphasized.

“His ambitions and objectives match perfectly with ours and we believe he is the perfect candidate to deliver the exciting, attacking style of football we all like to see and help us achieve the club’s mission. “We look forward to another exciting season of championship football and I welcome him to Argyle,” added the manager.
